Numbers 8:5-19

15 verses

Numbers Chapter 8

5ForeverOne spoke to Moses, saying, 6"Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.

7You shall do this to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of cleansing on them, let them shave their whole bodies with a razor, and let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves.

8Then let them take a young bull, and its meal offering, fine flour mixed with oil; and another young bull you shall take for a sin offering.

9You shall present the Levites before the Tent of Meeting. You shall assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel.

10You shall present the Levites before ForeverOne. The children of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites, 11and Aaron shall offer the Levites before ForeverOne for a wave offering, on the behalf of the children of Israel, that it may be theirs to do the service of ForeverOne.

12"The Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and you shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering to ForeverOne, to make atonement for the Levites.

13You shall set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them as a wave offering to ForeverOne.

14Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine.

15"After that, the Levites shall go in to do the service of the Tent of Meeting: and you shall cleanse them, and offer them as a wave offering.

16For they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel; instead of all who open the womb, even the firstborn of all the children of Israel, I have taken them to me.

17For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified them for myself.

18I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel.

19I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the Tent of Meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel; that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come near to the sanctuary."

Jeremiah 25:8-31

Jeremiah Chapter 25

8Therefore thus says ForeverOne of Armies: Because you have not heard my words, 9behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says ForeverOne, and [I will send] to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations around; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

10Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.

11This whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

12It shall happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, says ForeverOne, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it desolate forever.

13I will bring on that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.

14For many nations and great kings shall make bondservants of them, even of them; and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their hands.

15For thus says ForeverOne, the God of Israel, to me: take this cup of the wine of wrath at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it.

16They shall drink, and reel back and forth, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.

17Then took I the cup at ForeverOne's hand, and made all the nations to drink, to whom ForeverOne had sent me: 18[to wit], Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and its kings, and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day; 19Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people; 20and all the mixed people, and all the kings of the land of the Uz, and all the kings of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Gaza, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod; 21Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon; 22and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea; 23Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all who have the corners [of their hair] cut off; 24and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mixed people who dwell in the wilderness; 25and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes; 26and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are on the surface of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

27You shall tell them, Thus says ForeverOne of Armies, the God of Israel: Drink, and be drunk, vomit, fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.

28It shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at your hand to drink, then you shall tell them, Thus says ForeverOne of Armies: You shall surely drink.

29For, behold, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name; and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth, says ForeverOne of Armies.

30Therefore prophesy you against them all these words, and tell them, ForeverOne will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he will mightily roar against his fold; he will give a shout, as those who tread [the grapes], against all the inhabitants of the earth.

31A noise shall come even to the end of the earth; for ForeverOne has a controversy with the nations; he will enter into judgment with all flesh: as for the wicked, he will give them to the sword, says ForeverOne.

Section 3

Psalm 79

14 verses

Psalm 79

A Psalm by Asaph.

1God, the nations have come into your inheritance. They have defiled your holy temple. They have laid Jerusalem in heaps.

2They have given the dead bodies of your servants to be food for the birds of the sky, the flesh of your saints to the animals of the earth.

3Their blood they have shed like water around Jerusalem. There was no one to bury them.

4We have become a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and derision to those who are around us.

5How long, ForeverOne? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire?

6Pour out your wrath on the nations that don't know you; on the kingdoms that don't call on your name; 7For they have devoured Jacob, and destroyed his homeland.

8Don't hold the iniquities of our forefathers against us. Let your tender mercies speedily meet us, for we are in desperate need.

9Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of your name. Deliver us, and forgive our sins, for your name's sake.

10Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Let it be known among the nations, before our eyes, that vengeance for your servants' blood is being poured out.

11Let the sighing of the prisoner come before you. According to the greatness of your power, preserve those who are sentenced to death.

12Pay back to our neighbors seven times into their bosom their reproach with which they have reproached you, Lord.

13So we, your people and sheep of your pasture, will give you thanks forever. We will praise you forever, to all generations.

Section 4

1 Corinthians 5:1-6:11

24 verses

1 Corinthians Chapter 5

1It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles, that one has his father's wife.

2You are proud! Why didn't you rather mourn, that he who had done this deed might be removed from among you?

3For I most certainly, as being absent in body but present in spirit, have already, as though I were present, judged him who has done this thing.

4In the name of our Lord Jesus AnointedOne, you being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus AnointedOne, 5are to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

6Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump?

7Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed the AnointedOne, our Passover, has been sacrificed in our place.

8So let's keep the feast, not with old yeast, neither with the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual sinners; 10yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortionists, or with idolaters; for then you would have to leave the world.

11But as it is, I wrote to you not to associate with anyone who is called a brother who is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortionist. Don't even eat with such a person.

12For what do I have to do with judging outsiders? Don't you judge those who are within?

13But those who are outside, God judges. "Put away the wicked man from among yourselves."

1 Corinthians Chapter 6

1Dare any of you, having a matter against his neighbor, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?

2Don't you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

3Don't you know that we will judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?

4If then you have to judge things pertaining to this life, do you set them to judge who are of no account in the assembly?

5I say this to move you to shame. Isn't there even one wise man among you who would be able to decide between his brothers?

6But brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers!

7So there is already altogether a defect in you, that you have lawsuits with one another! Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?

8No, but you yourselves do wrong and defraud, and that against your brothers.

9Or don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God's Kingdom? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists will inherit God's Kingdom.

11Such were you, but you were washed; but you were sanctified; but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God!
