Leviticus 22:26-23:14

22 verses

Leviticus Chapter 22

26ForeverOne spoke to Moses, saying, 27"When a bull, or a sheep, or a goat, is born, then it shall remain seven days with its mother; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for the offering of an offering made by fire to ForeverOne.

28Whether it is a cow or ewe, you shall not kill it and its young both in one day.

29"When you sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to ForeverOne, you shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted.

30It shall be eaten on the same day; you shall leave none of it until the morning. I am ForeverOne.

31"Therefore you shall keep my commandments, and do them. I am ForeverOne.

32You shall not profane my holy name, but I will be made holy among the children of Israel. I am ForeverOne who makes you holy, 33who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. I am ForeverOne."

Leviticus Chapter 23

1ForeverOne spoke to Moses, saying, 2"Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, 'The set feasts of ForeverOne, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my set feasts.

3"'Six days shall work be done: but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no kind of work. It is a Sabbath to ForeverOne in all your dwellings.

4"'These are the set feasts of ForeverOne, even holy convocations, which you shall proclaim in their appointed season.

5In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening, is ForeverOne's Passover.

6On the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread to ForeverOne. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.

7In the first day you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no regular work.

8But you shall offer an offering made by fire to ForeverOne seven days. In the seventh day is a holy convocation: you shall do no regular work.'" 9ForeverOne spoke to Moses, saying, 10"Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, 'When you have come into the land which I give to you, and shall reap its the harvest, then you shall bring the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest: 11and he shall wave the sheaf before ForeverOne, to be accepted for you. On the next day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.

12On the day when you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a male lamb without blemish a year old for a burnt offering to ForeverOne.

13The meal offering with it shall be two tenth parts of an ephah of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire to ForeverOne for a pleasant aroma; and the drink offering with it shall be of wine, the fourth part of a hin.

14You shall eat neither bread, nor roasted grain, nor fresh grain, until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your God. This is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

Isaiah 50:10-51:23

25 verses

Isaiah Chapter 50

10Who is among you who fears ForeverOne, who obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light, let him trust in the name of ForeverOne, and rely on his God.

11Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who adorn yourselves with torches around yourselves; walk in the flame of your fire, and among the brands that you have kindled. You shall have this of my hand; you shall lie down in sorrow.

Isaiah Chapter 51

1"Listen to me, you who follow after righteousness, you who seek ForeverOne: look to the rock you were cut from, and to the hold of the pit you were dug from.

2Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many.

3For ForeverOne has comforted Zion; he has comforted all her waste places, and has made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of ForeverOne; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

4"Attend to me, my people; and give ear to me, my nation: for a law shall go forth from me, and I will establish my justice for a light of the peoples.

5My righteousness is near, my salvation is gone forth, and my arms shall judge the peoples; the islands shall wait for me, and on my arm shall they trust.

6Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment; and those who dwell therein shall die in the same way: but my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

7"Listen to me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; don't fear the reproach of men, neither be dismayed at their insults.

8For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool; but my righteousness shall be forever, and my salvation to all generations." 9Awake, awake, put on strength, arm of ForeverOne; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Isn't it you who cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the monster?

10Isn't it you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over?

11The ransomed of ForeverOne shall return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy shall be on their heads: they shall obtain gladness and joy; [and] sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

12"I, even I, am he who comforts you: who are you, that you are afraid of man who shall die, and of the son of man who shall be made as grass; 13and have forgotten ForeverOne your Maker, who stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and fear continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he makes ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?

14The captive exile shall speedily be freed; and he shall not die [and go down] into the pit, neither shall his bread fail.

15For I am ForeverOne your God, who stirs up the sea, so that its waves roar: ForeverOne of Armies is his name.

16I have put my words in your mouth, and have covered you in the shadow of my hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and tell Zion, 'You are my people.'" 17Awake, awake, stand up, Jerusalem, that have drunk at the hand of ForeverOne the cup of his wrath; you have drunken the bowl of the cup of staggering, and drained it.

18There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she has brought forth; neither is there any who takes her by the hand among all the sons who she has brought up.

19These two things have happened to you. Who will bemoan you? Desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword; how shall I comfort you?

20Your sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as an antelope in a net; they are full of the wrath of ForeverOne, the rebuke of your God.

21Therefore hear now this, you afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine: 22Thus says your Lord ForeverOne, and your God who pleads the cause of his people, "Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of staggering, even the bowl of the cup of my wrath; you shall no more drink it again: 23and I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to your soul, 'Bow down, that we may walk over you;' and you have laid your back as the ground, and as the street, to those who walk over."

Section 3

Psalm 32-33

34 verses

Psalm 32

By David. A contemplative psalm.

1Blessed is he whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2Blessed is the man to whom ForeverOne doesn't impute iniquity, in whose spirit there is no deceit.

3When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.

4For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped in the heat of summer. Selah.

5I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn't hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to ForeverOne, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

6For this, let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when you may be found. Surely when the great waters overflow, they shall not reach to him.

7You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.

8I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you.

9Don't be like the horse, or like the mule, which have no understanding, who are controlled by bit and bridle, or else they will not come near to you.

10Many sorrows come to the wicked, but loving kindness shall surround him who trusts in ForeverOne.

11Be glad in ForeverOne, and rejoice, you righteous! Shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart!

Psalm 33

1Rejoice in ForeverOne, you righteous! Praise is fitting for the upright.

2Give thanks to ForeverOne with the lyre. Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings.

3Sing to him a new song. Play skillfully with a shout of joy!

4For the word of ForeverOne is right. All his work is done in faithfulness.

5He loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of the loving kindness of ForeverOne.

6By ForeverOne's word, the heavens were made; all their army by the breath of his mouth.

7He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap. He lays up the deeps in storehouses.

8Let all the earth fear ForeverOne. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

9For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm.

10ForeverOne brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.

11The counsel of ForeverOne stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

12Blessed is the nation whose God is ForeverOne, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.

13ForeverOne looks from heaven. He sees all the sons of men.

14From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, 15he who fashions all of their hearts; and he considers all of their works.

16There is no king saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.

17A horse is a vain thing for safety, neither does he deliver any by his great power.

18Behold, ForeverOne's eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his loving kindness; 19to deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive in famine.

20Our soul has waited for ForeverOne. He is our help and our shield.

21For our heart rejoices in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22Let your loving kindness be on us, ForeverOne, since we have hoped in you.

Section 4

Acts 22:17-23:5

19 verses

Acts Chapter 22

17"When I had returned to Jerusalem, and while I prayed in the temple, I fell into a trance, 18and saw him saying to me, 'Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not receive testimony concerning me from you.' 19I said, 'Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue those who believed in you.

20When the blood of Stephen, your witness, was shed, I also was standing by, consenting to his death, and guarding the cloaks of those who killed him.' 21"He said to me, 'Depart, for I will send you out far from here to the Gentiles.'" 22They listened to him until he said that; then they lifted up their voice and said, "Rid the earth of this fellow, for he isn't fit to live!" 23As they cried out, threw off their cloaks, and threw dust into the air, 24the commanding officer commanded him to be brought into the barracks, ordering him to be examined by whipping, that he might know for what crime they shouted against him like that.

25When they had tied him up with thongs, Paul asked the centurion who stood by, "Is it lawful for you to whip a man who is a Roman, and not found guilty?" 26When the centurion heard it, he went to the commanding officer and told him, "Watch what you are about to do, for this man is a Roman!" 27The commanding officer came and asked him, "Tell me, are you a Roman?" He said, "Yes." 28The commanding officer answered, "I bought my citizenship for a great price." Paul said, "But I was born a Roman." 29Immediately those who were about to examine him departed from him, and the commanding officer also was afraid when he realized that he was a Roman, because he had bound him.

30But on the next day, desiring to know the truth about why he was accused by the Jews, he freed him from the bonds, and commanded the chief priests and all the council to come together, and brought Paul down and set him before them.

Acts Chapter 23

1Paul, looking steadfastly at the council, said, "Brothers, I have lived before God in all good conscience until this very day." 2The high priest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.

3Then Paul said to him, "God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit to judge me according to the law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?" 4Those who stood by said, "Do you malign God's high priest?" 5Paul said, "I didn't know, brothers, that he was high priest. For it is written, 'You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.'"
