Leviticus 18:17-30

14 verses

Leviticus Chapter 18

17"'You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter. You shall not take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; they are near kinswomen: it is wickedness.

18"'You shall not take a wife to her sister, to be a rival, to uncover her nakedness, while her sister is yet alive.

19"'You shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is impure by her uncleanness.

20"'You shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, and defile yourself with her.

21"'You shall not give any of your children to sacrifice to Molech; neither shall you profane the name of your God: I am ForeverOne.

22"'You shall not lie with a man, as with a woman. That is detestable.

23"'You shall not lie with any animal to defile yourself with it; neither shall any woman give herself to an animal, to lie down with it: it is a perversion.

24"'Don't defile yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations which I am casting out before you were defiled.

25The land was defiled: therefore I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out her inhabitants.

26You therefore shall keep my statutes and my ordinances, and shall not do any of these abominations; neither the native-born, nor the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you; 27(for all these abominations have the men of the land done, that were before you, and the land became defiled); 28that the land not vomit you out also, when you defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.

29"'For whoever shall do any of these abominations, even the souls that do them shall be cut off from among their people.

30Therefore you shall keep my requirements, that you do not practice any of these abominable customs, which were practiced before you, and that you do not defile yourselves with them: I am ForeverOne your God.'"

Isaiah 41:10-42:9

29 verses

Isaiah Chapter 41

10Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

11Behold, all those who are incensed against you will be disappointed and confounded. Those who strive with you will be like nothing, and shall perish.

12You will seek them, and won't find them, even those who contend with you. Those who war against you will be as nothing, as a non-existent thing.

13For I, ForeverOne your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, 'Don't be afraid. I will help you.' 14Don't be afraid, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel. I will help you," says ForeverOne, "and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

15Behold, I have made you into a new sharp threshing instrument with teeth. You will thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and will make the hills like chaff.

16You will winnow them, and the wind will carry them away, and the whirlwind will scatter them. You will rejoice in ForeverOne. You will glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17The poor and needy seek water, and there is none. Their tongue fails for thirst. I, ForeverOne, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

18I will open rivers on the bare heights, and springs in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

19I will put cedar, acacia, myrtle, and oil trees in the wilderness. I will set fir trees, pine, and box trees together in the desert; 20that they may see, know, consider, and understand together, that the hand of ForeverOne has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it.

21Produce your cause," says ForeverOne. "Bring forth your strong reasons," says the King of Jacob.

22"Let them announce, and declare to us what shall happen. Declare the former things, what they are, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or show us things to come.

23Declare the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods. Yes, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and see it together.

24Behold, you are of nothing, and your work is of nothing. He who chooses you is an abomination.

25"I have raised up one from the north, and he has come; from the rising of the sun, one who calls on my name; and he shall come on rulers as on mortar, and as the potter treads clay.

26Who has declared it from the beginning, that we may know? And before, that we may say, 'He is right?' Surely, there is no one who declares. Surely, there is no one who shows. Surely, there is no one who hears your words.

27I am the first to say to Zion, 'Behold, look at them;' and I will give one who brings good news to Jerusalem.

28When I look, there is no man; even among them there is no counselor who, when I ask of them, can answer a word.

29Behold, all of them, their works are vanity and nothing. Their molten images are wind and confusion.

Isaiah Chapter 42

1"Behold, my servant, whom I uphold; my chosen, in whom my soul delights - I have put my Spirit on him. He will bring justice to the nations.

2He will not shout, nor raise his voice, nor cause it to be heard in the street.

3He won't break a bruised reed. He won't quench a dimly burning wick. He will faithfully bring justice.

4He will not fail nor be discouraged, until he has set justice in the earth, and the islands will wait for his law." 5Thus says God ForeverOne, he who created the heavens and stretched them out, he who spread out the earth and that which comes out of it, he who gives breath to its people and spirit to those who walk in it.

6"I, ForeverOne, have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand, and will keep you, and make you a covenant for the people, as a light for the nations; 7to open the blind eyes, to bring the prisoners out of the dungeon, and those who sit in darkness out of the prison.

8"I am ForeverOne. That is my name. I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to engraved images.

9Behold, the former things have happened, and I declare new things. I tell you about them before they come up."

Section 3

Psalm 19

15 verses

Psalm 19

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David.

1The heavens declare the glory of God. The expanse shows his handiwork.

2Day after day they pour forth speech, and night after night they display knowledge.

3There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

4Their voice has gone out through all the earth, their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, 5which is as a bridegroom coming out of his room, like a strong man rejoicing to run his course.

6His going forth is from the end of the heavens, his circuit to its ends; There is nothing hidden from its heat.

7ForeverOne's law is perfect, restoring the soul. ForeverOne's testimony is sure, making wise the simple.

8ForeverOne's precepts are right, rejoicing the heart. ForeverOne's commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9The fear of ForeverOne is clean, enduring forever. ForeverOne's ordinances are true, and righteous altogether.

10More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb.

11Moreover by them is your servant warned. In keeping them there is great reward.

12Who can discern his errors? Forgive me from hidden errors.

13Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me. Then I will be upright. I will be blameless and innocent of great transgression.

14Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, ForeverOne, my rock, and my redeemer.

Section 4

Acts 18:4-23

20 verses

Acts Chapter 18

4He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and persuaded Jews and Greeks.

5But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the AnointedOne.

6When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them, "Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!" 7He departed there, and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.

8Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptized.

9The Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, "Don't be afraid, but speak and don't be silent; 10for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city." 11He lived there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

12But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat, 13saying, "This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law." 14But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, "If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked crime, you Jews, it would be reasonable that I should bear with you; 15but if they are questions about words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves. For I don't want to be a judge of these matters." 16So he drove them from the judgment seat.

17Then all the Greeks seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. Gallio didn't care about any of these things.

18Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.

19He came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

20When they asked him to stay with them a longer time, he declined; 21but taking his leave of them, he said, "I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you if God wills." Then he set sail from Ephesus.

22When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the assembly, and went down to Antioch.

23Having spent some time there, he departed, and went through the region of Galatia, and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples.
