Genesis 49:8-26

Genesis Chapter 49

8"Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies. Your father's sons will bow down before you.

9Judah is a lion's cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he crouched as a lion, as a lioness. Who will rouse him up?

10The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. To him will the obedience of the peoples be.

11Binding his foal to the vine, his donkey's colt to the choice vine; he has washed his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes.

12His eyes will be red with wine, his teeth white with milk.

13"Zebulun will dwell at the haven of the sea. He will be for a haven of ships. His border will be on Sidon.

14"Issachar is a strong donkey, lying down between the saddlebags.

15He saw a resting place, that it was good, the land, that it was pleasant. He bows his shoulder to the burden, and becomes a servant doing forced labor.

16"Dan will judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.

17Dan will be a serpent in the way, an adder in the path, That bites the horse's heels, so that his rider falls backward.

18I have waited for your salvation, ForeverOne.

19"A troop will press on Gad, but he will press on their heel.

20"Asher's food will be rich. He will yield royal dainties.

21"Naphtali is a doe set free, who bears beautiful fawns.

22"Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring. His branches run over the wall.

23The master archers have severely grieved him, shot at him, and persecute him: 24But his bow remained strong. The arms of his hands were made strong, by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, (from there is the shepherd, the stone of Israel), 25even by the God of your father, who will help you; by the Almighty, who will bless you, with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.

26The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of your ancestors, above the boundaries of the ancient hills. They will be on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the head of him who is separated from his brothers.

2 Samuel 4:9-5:21

25 verses

2 Samuel Chapter 4

9David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, "As ForeverOne lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity, 10when someone told me, 'Behold, Saul is dead,' thinking to have brought good news, I took hold of him, and killed him in Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his news.

11How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house on his bed, shall I not now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?" 12David commanded his young men, and they killed them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up beside the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the grave of Abner in Hebron.

2 Samuel Chapter 5

1Then came all the tribes of Israel to David to Hebron, and spoke, saying, "Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

2In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. ForeverOne said to you, 'You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.'" 3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before ForeverOne; and they anointed David king over Israel.

4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

5In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.

6The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, "Unless you take away the blind and the lame, you shall not come in here;" thinking, "David can't come in here." 7Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.

8David said on that day, "Whoever strikes the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and strike the lame and the blind, who are hated by David's soul." Therefore they say, "The blind and the lame can't come into the house." 9David lived in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. David built around from Millo and inward.

10David grew greater and greater; for ForeverOne, the God of Armies, was with him.

11Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.

12David perceived that ForeverOne had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.

13David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.

14These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, 15and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia, 16and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet.

17When the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the stronghold.

18Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

19David inquired of ForeverOne, saying, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?" ForeverOne said to David, "Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand." 20David came to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and he said, "ForeverOne has broken my enemies before me, like the breach of waters." Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

21They left their images there; and David and his men took them away.

2 Chronicles 28:9-27

2 Chronicles Chapter 28

9But a prophet of ForeverOne was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out to meet the army that came to Samaria, and said to them, "Behold, because ForeverOne, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and you have slain them in a rage which has reached up to heaven.

10Now you purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondservants and bondmaids for yourselves. Aren't there even with you trespasses of your own against ForeverOne your God?

11Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives, that you have taken captive from your brothers; for the fierce wrath of ForeverOne is on you." 12Then some of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against those who came from the war, 13and said to them, "You shall not bring in the captives here: for you purpose that which will bring on us a trespass against ForeverOne, to add to our sins and to our trespass; for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel." 14So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the assembly.

15The men who have been mentioned by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all who were naked among them, dressed them, gave them sandals, and gave them something to eat and to drink, anointed them, carried all the feeble of them on donkeys, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.

16At that time king Ahaz sent to the kings of Assyria to help him.

17For again the Edomites had come and struck Judah, and carried away captives.

18The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland, and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth Shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Soco with its towns, and Timnah with its towns, Gimzo also and its towns: and they lived there.

19For ForeverOne brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he had dealt wantonly in Judah, and trespassed severely against ForeverOne.

20Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria came to him, and distressed him, but didn't strengthen him.

21For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of ForeverOne, and out of the house of the king and of the princes, and gave it to the king of Assyria: but it didn't help him.

22In the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against ForeverOne, this same king Ahaz.

23For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus, which struck him; and he said, "Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, so I will sacrifice to them, that they may help me." But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.

24Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of ForeverOne; and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

25In every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked to anger ForeverOne, the God of his fathers.

26Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

27Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem; for they didn't bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.

Luke Chapter 4

1Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness 2for forty days, being tempted by the devil. He ate nothing in those days. Afterward, when they were completed, he was hungry.

3The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." 4Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'" 5The devil, leading him up on a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

6The devil said to him, "I will give you all this authority, and their glory, for it has been delivered to me; and I give it to whomever I want.

7So, if you will worship before me, it will all be yours." 8Jesus answered him, "Get behind me Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.'"
